Winston and Cody Go Camping With A Lot of Other Dogs and Horses!

What a weekend. You are all finally getting to see BINGO (in Winston's mouth)! This is the first time BINGO has ever been outside. We were all sitting around our campsite Saturday afternoon enjoying our beverages. All the Cutters (NCHA) were finished for the day and we were enjoying happy hour before we all went out to dinner. Everyone brings their dogs so we have a array of doggie children playing together. Cody is our blue heeler seen in the picture with Winston staring down BINGO.
Well, all the doggie children were hard at play running and wrestling on the grassy hill. Winston decided he wanted everyone to see BINGO, so he went inside the trailer and brought BINGO out and pranced him all around the human types and the doggie children as well. He wanted to make sure everyone saw him with his BINGO. We were all laughing hysterically. He did not like that and he took BINGO under the trailer and laid out with him. When one of the doggie children tried to take BINGO, Winston was very protective, showing a few teeth. Well, it was funny until we got ready to leave for dinner and couldn't get the little bugger out from under the trailer much less swipe BINGO. I tried, my husband tried, not budging. I guess he thought he'd show us for laughing. Anyway, after about 15 minutes our sweet friend Gwen and her doggie child Buckaroo got Winston to come out and he and Bingo went down for a nap and we all went on out to dinner. What a little rascal that Winston is!

BINGO!

It has been a while since I have had time to write on this blog. I want to continue the story of Winston and his friend BINGO. BINGO is Winston's doggie hand puppet or it started out that way. We are on his third BINGO. The first one is gone, totally, the second one is a rag and the third one is still a puppet but the insides are gone. It used to bark to two songs, BINGO and HOW MUCH IS THAT DOGGIE IN THE WINDOW!  This small and inexpensive purchase has given Winston and me many hours of play time together. You see, when Winston was 7 weeks old I bought BINGO home for him. I got on the floor with him and it started. Rough housing is what my Mom used to call it but we are good pals and he does not bite me and I do not play mean or unfair. We just know how far to take it. This little boy now lives for BINGO time. When it is time to go to bed he brings BINGO into whatever room I am in, holding BINGO in his mouth, and just stares at me. I know he is ready to go to bed which means I have to go to bed too so we can wrestle with BINGO on the bed for a good 1/2 hour to wear him out. BINGO is his favorite toy. He sleeps with him, drags him all over the place. He did have a gigantic toy box full of toys but he never played with any of them except BINGO so, nice doggie owner that I am I donated all of his toys to the animal shelter. I have looked far and wide for a new BINGO but (Walmart) the store where I bought him no longer carries this particular toy. So what am I gonna do when this BINGO peters out?

Sleeping together!

These dogs just kill me. They are so much like human siblings. One minute they are snipping at each other and the next they are loving each other. As you know I had a time with them concerning FOOD! I started separating them when we are not at home. That has worked out great. Winston has been so happy to have his own quarters. Eating well again and seems to be so content. Well, I came in over the weekend and they came running out of our son's (who is away in college) room together all rumpled and sleepy looking. I went in there and you could see where the two of them were laid up wallowing and sleeping away together on the big bed. I am assuming Winston got lonely back there in his suite and decided to spend some time with his house sister Cody. I guess he is like the rest of us. He wants the best of both worlds. His alone time and his social time. ALL on his terms. Does that sound familiar? Still working on BINGO pictures so I can tell you that story!

Winston gets terrorized!

Cody, our 10 year old Austrailian cattle dog is a very bossy gal and she seems to always be hungry! Well, for a while Winston had been acting very withdrawn in the evenings when we got home. He hid under the bed and did not come out to sit with us after dinner like he always did before. He was also not eating very well. I knew that Cody would lay in front of Winston's bowl and not allow him to eat unless I scolded her and sat right there with Winston while he ate. This problem just got worse and I caught Cody running him back to the bedroom away from me several times. Cody is definitely MY dog and is very protective over me and follows me everywhere. Sometimes if I turn around too fast I fall over here. Well, I seemed to be able to control this situation if I sat with Winston when he ate but last week he just would not eat. Even if I let Cody out he would go to his bowl and act like he was going to eat and then he would look around like he was looking for Cody to come and terrorize him, and poof, he would be off running to our bedroom under the bed. Well, I said, enough of this s _ _ t! I will fix this problem. So I built a chair and ottoman gate between our bedroom and the rest of the house to keep Cody out of our bedroom during the day when we are not home. Winston came come and go but fat girl cannot get to him. I moved his food and water bowl into the connecting bathroom and now he has his own private suite. After a day or two when he figured it all out he has been a very happy boy and back to playing and jumping around energetically. He loves his OWN room and knows now that the hungry dog Cody will not be terrorizing him anymore. Good boy Winston! Mommy made it all better, huh? I can tell by the way he looks at me he is saying, "THANKS MOM! LET"S PLAY BINGO" and Bingo is another story for another day!

Winston's first snow!

I am a new blogger! I decided to write this blog about our West Highland terrier, Winston. His antics can have us in stitches one minute and pulling our hair out the next. I thought blogging would be a way for me to share his antics with the world. He is quite the character and I will be posting pictures and stories about him soon! Stay tuned..........
